Mantenla siempere acts as Physical illustrations of my own experiences on the intersection of race and gender, depicting various instances where I was met with confrontation because of my gender expression, whether traversing through customs at the airport and being heavily questioned, or in interactions with strangers on the street. All concerning how someone else’s perception of me did not match who I actually am. As a response to governing forces trying to dictate what my body should look like or pretend like I don’t exist at all, I bare it all and tell them exact what I am, an amorphous ancestral being both from the future and the past all at once, existing beyond the confines of contemporary ideas of gender expectation.
